ปัญหาข่าวฉาวในวงการสงฆ์ ไม่ได้เกิดจากพฤติกรรมของบางรายเท่านั้น แต่สะท้อนถึงโครงสร้างที่ไม่มีประสิทธิภาพ และขาดกลไกกำกับตรวจสอบประเทศไทยมีวัดมากกว่า 40,000 แห่ง แต่ระบบกำกับดูแลยังไม่ทันสมัยองค์กรปกครองคณะสงฆ์ขาดความคล่องตัว โปร่งใส และการมีส่วนร่วมจากสังคม การบวชที่ง่ายเกินไป การเลื่อนสมณศักดิ์โดยไม่โปร่งใส และการบริจาคเงินที่ไร้ระบบตรวจสอบกำลังสร้างช่องว่างให้ “ศรัทธา” ถูกใช้ในทางที่ผิด อีกด้านหนึ่ง “โยม” หรือสาธารณชน ก็ยังไม่กล้าตั้งคำถามกับพระขณะที่วัดส่วนใหญ่ไม่มีการเปิดเผยข้อมูลรายรับ-รายจ่ายอย่างโปร่งใส คำว่า “ธรรมาภิบาลวัด” จึงไม่ใช่แค่แนวคิดใหม่แต่คือ “ทางออก” ที่สังคมไทยควรเริ่มต้นอย่างจริงจัง

“Faith” Without Accountability: Thai Society Begins to Demand Temple Governance

The recent scandals in the monastic community are not isolated incidents. They reflect an inefficient system and a lack of effective oversight mechanisms. Thailand has over 40,000 temples, but the regulatory and supervisory systems remain outdated. The central monastic administration lacks agility, transparency, and public participation. Ordination is too easy. Promotions in rank lack transparency. Monetary donations are not subject to proper financial checks. This has opened the door for faith to be misused. At the same time, laypeople rarely question the actions of monks, and most temples do not disclose their income and expenditures transparently. The term “temple governance” is no longer just a new concept. It is a real solution that Thai society must begin to take seriously.
