“ส่งสการ” คือสารคดีที่สำรวจความหมายและรูปแบบของงานศพ ผ่านสายตาและประสบการณ์ของชาวบ้านในจังหวัดเชียงราย ที่ครั้งหนึ่งยึดมั่นในพิธีกรรมตามจารีตอย่างเข้มแข็ง แต่ในอีกด้านหนึ่ง…เริ่มมีการตั้งคำถามถึงความเป็นไปได้ของการจัดงานในรูปแบบใหม่ ๆ ที่สะท้อนความฝัน ความคิด และอัตลักษณ์ส่วนตัว
สารคดีเรื่องนี้ไม่ได้เพียงเล่าเรื่องพิธีกรรม แต่ยังพาเราย้อนมอง “ร่องรอยอดีต” ภาพถ่ายงานศพในท้องถิ่นเมื่อปี 2520 ภาพที่ทั้งงดงามและลึกลับ ราวกับซ่อนความหมายบางอย่างที่รอการค้นหา และกลายเป็นแรงบันดาลใจสำคัญให้กับผู้กำกับ
“ส่งสการ” คือการทบทวนอดีต การตั้งคำถามต่อปัจจุบัน และการมองหาความเป็นไปได้ใหม่ ๆ ของพิธีกรรมที่เราคุ้นชิน

Song Sakarn is a documentary that explores the meaning and evolving forms of funerals through the eyes and lived experiences of villagers in Chiang Rai. Once deeply rooted in traditional rites, the community has now begun to question and experiment with new possibilities—rituals that reflect personal dreams, identities, and ways of life.
This film does not simply depict ceremonies. It takes us back to the “traces of the past” through archival funeral photographs from the 1970s—images both beautiful and enigmatic, carrying hidden meanings that inspired the director.
Song Sakarn is an act of revisiting the past, questioning the present, and seeking new futures for a ritual so deeply familiar.
